It is important to check that all the stretcher components operate properly before it is put into service.
Some stretchers are equipped with one or both fixed endrails. Since stretchers are shipped with all four rails down,
the "Fixed Endrail Installation" procedure below must be completed prior to the stretcher entering service. Also, this
procedure is a document in the kit provided for the fixed endrail positioning and is to be found in a plastic envelop on
the mattress.

FIXED ENDRAIL INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

Note
Stretchers equipped with a fixed endrail will be packaged with the endrail down to prevent damage during transportation.
Complete the procedure below to permanently mount the endrail in the upper position.
TOOLS REQUIRED:
• None
PROCEDURE:
1.
Raise the endrail and hold it in the upper position.
2.
Raise the barrel covers.
3.
Insert the lock rods in the provided holes.
4.
Insert the cotter pins to hold the lock rods in position.
5.
Remove any white powder from the barrels and reinstall the barrel covers.
6.
Verify the end rail is securely mounted before the stretcher enters service.

RAIL VERIFICATION (APPLIES TO ADJUSTABLE RAILS)

1.
Side/endrail handles operate properly, handle triggers and rotational movement operates smoothly.
2.
Side/endrails raise and lower smoothly, and lock in the 9", 14" and upper positions when raised or lowered.
3.
Side/endrails automatically stop at the 9" position when lowered without interruption (handle kept rotated to the left
or right while lowering the rail) from upper positions. Rotating the handle to the left or right further lowers the rail
from the 9" position to its lowest position under the mattress surface.
NOTE
On some stretchers, the 9" double safety lock may not be present.

ACCESS DOOR VERIFICATION (APPLIES TO MOVING ACCESS DOORS)

1.
Release knobs operate properly.
2.
Access doors open, close and lock properly.
3.
Both release knob open/close indicators show green when the door is closed and locked, and yellow when the
door is open. Verify that the access doors are properly closed and locked when both open/close indicators show
green.
