PROCEDURE:
1.
Apply the brakes. Raise the head or foot section as needed and support using bungee cords. If endrails are being
repaired, remove the accessory brackets.
2.
For upper rolling bearings, raise the rail to the highest position. For lower rolling bearings, lower the rail to the 9
in. position.
3.
Alternately lift each side of rail support cover (A) to lift it off the rail support and secure it using a bungee cord
(or equivalent).
4.
Using a regular screwdriver, press and lift the two locking tabs though the holes (B) on either side of the rail
support to disengage the rolling bearing support (C).
5.
Using needle nose pliers, remove the spring pin (D) holding the rolling bearing (E). Remove the defective rolling
bearing.
6.
Using a 1/8 in. punch as a guide, insert the spring pin (D) and the new rolling bearing (E) in to the support holes.
Ensure the spring pin is centered so the rolling bearing assembly will properly fit into the rail support.
7.
Reinstall the rolling bearing support and cover.
8.
Verify proper operation of the rail before returning the stretcher to service.
