Cap-shaping

(Magic Wave
automatic cap-shaping is available on the MagicWave 1700 / 2200 power sources. For

optimum results, this function takes account of the pre-set electrode diameter.

panel".
Select the desired parameters with the parameter selection buttons (8) and (9), and
alter them with the adjusting dial (7).
Important! All parameter command values that have been set by means of the adju-
sting dial (7) will remain stored until the next time they are changed. This is true even if
the power source is switched off and on again in the meantime.

After ignition
Note! The "AC welding process with activated cap-shaping function" is not
necessary if there is already a sufficiently large cap at the tip of the tungsten
electrode.
If the tungsten electrode already has a large enough cap, use "AC welding
(without cap-shaping)".
The cap-shaping function can also be activated by pushing the torch trigger
forward. Precondition: The TIG-AC welding process must have been selected.
The automatic cap-shaping function
ensures that the optimum shape of elec-
trode tip is formed automatically during
the welding start-up. A separate cap-
shaping operation on a test workpiece is
no longer necessary.
Important! No further cap-shaping is
needed at the next welding start-up. After
the cap-shaping function has been perfor-
med once, it is deactivated for every
subsequent welding start-up.
