ADJUSTMENTS
Read the safety instructions
HEIGHT OF CUT ADJUSTMENT (Fig.18)
The cutting height is determined by the position of the
front roll in relation to the bottom blade; variations of
this setting are made by adjusting the front roll:
1.
Loosen the nuts (A) locking the front roll
adjuster on both sides of the machine just
enough to allow the adjuster to slid.
2.
Set the height of cut gauge to the required
height of cut.
WARNING: Turn the petrol tap to the "OFF"
position before tilting the machine backwards.
3.
To ensure that the height of cut is set correctly,
tilt the machine back and support. Place the
height of cut gauge so that the under side of
the screw head is hooked over the bottom
blade lip and the end of the gauge is touching
the landroll. Using a spanner turn the front roll
adjusters (B) clockwise to increase the height of
cut anticlockwise to decrease the height of cut.
until both sides of the front roll touch the gauge.
4.
Tighten the nuts (A) and check the setting
at both ends of the bottom blade before
removing support.
NOTE: The front roll should never be set so that
the bottom blade is pressing on the turf; this will
damage the spiral blades, bottom blade and the
turf.
CUTTING CYLINDER TO BOTTOM BLADE (Fig.19)
To check that the cutting cylinder is set correctly to
the bottom blade: tilt the machine back, hold a thin
piece of paper between the edge of the bottom blade
and cutting cylinder blades and turn the cylinder
manually.
The paper should be cut cleanly along the length of
the bottom blade, if not some adjustment is necessary
BUT DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN - the cylinder must be
able to turn freely.
To adjust the cylinder to the bottom blade pull the
adjuster knob (A) and turn alternately left and right
hand knobs a little in desired direction (clockwise to
put on cut, anticlockwise to take off cut) and release,
keep turning the knob until it locates in the serrated
locking ring. The adjuster is of the notched type.
Each notch moves the reel 0.04mm (0.0015in).
When the knob is released to engage serrated locking
ring NO OTHER CLAMPING IS NECESSARY.
