1. General warning
1. The travsmart traveller is a mobile anchorage point on
horizontal wire rope EN 795 C. This device can only be used
by one operator equipped with a fall arrest harness (EN 361)
and a fall arrest system (EN 363).
2. Before use, it is essential to have received training in the
use of this equipment, have read this manual carefully, as
well as the installation, use and maintenance instructions
for travsmart and travflex™ 2 lifelines, and to comply with
their requirements. These instructions must be provided and
stored with each system or component, and be kept at the
disposal of any user.
3. Never use a traveller if there are any doubts concerning
its safety. We recommend a visual inspection before each
use. Return any traveller which is damaged and/or does not
operate to Tractel
, or to your distributor.

4. Any travsmart slider that has not been the subject of a
periodical inspection during the last twelve months should
not be used. It cannot be used again until a new inspection
has been carried out by an approved and competent
technician who will authorise a return to use in writing.
Failing this inspection and authorisation, the slider will be
dismantled and scrapped.
5. Tractel SAS accepts no responsibility for the consequences
of any modification of the traveller.
6. If a travsmart slider is not in obvious good condition, or has
actually been used to arrest a fall, the equipment as a whole
must be inspected by TRACTEL SAS or by an approved and
competent technician, who must authorise a return to use
in writing.
7. The travsmart traveller is suitable for use on site in the open
air and at a temperature range between -35°C and +80°C.
8. The instructions for attaching components together to create
a fall arrest system must be followed in accordance with
standard EN 363.
9. During use, the adjustment and attachment elements must be
checked. Check also that the traveller is protected against any
hazards (sharp edges, friction, sources of heat, twisting, etc.).
10. If you must assign the equipment to an employee or
similar operator, please comply with the relevant labour
regulations.
11. The maximum operating load for the travsmart slider is
150 kg.
12. If the mass of the operator, increased by the mass of
equipment and tools is between 100 and 150 kg, it is
essential to verify that this total mass (operator + equipment
+ tools) does not exceed the maximum operating load of
any of the components of the fall arrest system.

2. Definitions and pictograms
2.1. Definitions
"User": Person or department responsible for the management
and safe use of the product described in the manual.
"Technician": Qualified person in charge of maintenance
operations described and permitted by the user manual, who
is competent and familiar with the product.
"Installer": Qualified person in charge of the installation of the
lifeline.
"Operator": Someone working and using the lifeline as
intended.
"PPE": Personal protective equipment against falls from height.
"Connector": Connecting element between components of a
fall arrest system. It complies with EN 362.
"Belay lanyard": Connecting component between an anchor
point and a system to secure.
"Fall arrest harness": Body gripper designed to stop falls.
It is made up of straps and buckles. It includes fall arrest
attachment points marked with an A if they can be used alone,
or marked with a A/2 if they are to be used in combination with
another A/2 point. It complies with EN 361.
"Lifeline": There is no reference to the term "lifeline" in
the regulations or standards. The horizontal travsmart and
travflex™ 2 lifelines belong to the category "Anchoring device
equipped with flexible horizontal belaying support".
"Anchoring device":Component or series of items or components
making up an anchor point or anchor points.
"Maximum operating load": Maximum mass of the fully
dressed operator, equipped with their PPE, work clothes, tools
and components required for the job in hand.
"Fall-arrest system": Equipment consisting of following
components:
- Fall-arrest harness.
- Self-retracting lifeline, energy absorber or mobile fall-arrester
on rigid anchor point, or fall-arrester on flexible anchor.
- Anchoring.
- Linking component.
"Fall-arrest system component": Generic term defining one
of the following:
- Fall-arrest harness.
- Self-retracting lifeline, energy absorber or mobile fall-arrester
on rigid anchor point or fall-arrester on flexible anchor.
- Anchoring.
- Linking component.
2.2. Pictograms
"Danger":
For comments designed to avoid damage to persons, including
fatal, mild or severe injuries, and environmental impact.
"Important":
For comments intended to prevent a failure or damage to the
product, but not directly endangering the life or health of the
operator or other persons, or damage to the environment.
