"Danger": Any assembly of the traveller using an
improper procedure, not compliant with this manual, is the sole
responsibility of the user or installer.

« Important » : The maximum operating load of the
travsmart slider is 150 kg. It is essential to ensure, before use,
that all the components of the fall arrest system are compatible
with this load, by referring to their respective manuals. If this is
not the case, then the maximum operating load of the fall arrest
system will be that of the component with the lowest maximum
operating load. travsmart and travflex™ 2 lifelines have a
maximum operating load per operator of 150 kg.
This traveller should preferably be installed at the TOP position.
When on the ground, it is essential to protect it from sharp or
abrasive edges. The travsmart slider must never be connected
below the operator's workstation.
Only Tractel
products and CE equipments may be used with
®
our travellers, in accordance with the technical description of
the system.
The traveller must always be used with a maximum angle of
15° to avoid the risk of slipping.
« Danger » : The connection and removal of the traveller
must be achieved in an area in safety, without risk of falling.
Installation of the travsmart traveller is described in the figures
in pages 2, 3 and 4 of this manual.
Installation of EN 362 gate connector (fig. 1) of lanyard on
traveller.
a. Open the connector by acting on the lock (fig. 1, item 2) and
flip the safety gate (fig. 1, item 3).
b. Fasten the connector to one of the connection hole (fig. 1,
item 9) of the travsmart traveller located at the ends of the
frame (fig. 1, item 8).
c. Allow the safety gate of the connector to come back into
position then secure the gate lock.
→ Connector in place on the traveller.
« Important » : For the operator's safety it is imperative that
the safety lock and latch are correctly fastened immediately
after connecting. The diameter of the connector body must not
exceed 11 mm.
Installation of travsmart traveller (fig. 2) on lifeline.
a. Unlock the jaws (fig. 2, item 6) by acting on the lock (item 5).
b. Swivel the jaws (fig. 2, item 6) toward the inside of the
traveller then release the lock (fig. 2, item 5).
c. Insert the travsmart lifeline wire rope (fig. 2, item 10) in the
opening of the traveller then release the jaw (fig. 2, item 6).
d. Check that the jaws (fig. 2, item 6) are correctly secured by
the lock (fig. 2, item 5).
→ Traveller in place on lifeline.
« Important » : The travsmart slider is the only means of
connecting the operator to the travsmart and travflex™ 2
lifelines. The use of any other means of connection to Tractel
lifelines releases it from all liability.
Changing position of EN 362 connector (fig. 3, item 1) on
travsmart traveller (fig. 3, item 4) for use on either side of lifeline.
« Important » : The travsmart traveller must not be used,
6
under any circumstances, with the EN 362 connector (fig. 3,
item 1) secured in the toggle opening (fig. 3, item 12). This
configuration of use may cause premature wear of the traveller
to the right of the opening for passing the anchors (fig. 3,
item 13).
« Note » : For left handed use of the equipment, the
EN 362 wire connector must be located on the right hand
anchoring aperture (fig. 3, rep 9) of the slider and vice versa if
the operator using the line is right handed. Failure to observe
this rule will prevent optimum passage of the traveller at the
turn and intermediate anchors.
a. Push the button (item 14) and then toggle the tilt lever
(item 11) opposite the connector (item 1).
b. Insert the connector (item 1) into the tilt opening (item 12)
and then release the tilt lever (item 11) and the button
(item 14).
c. Press the button again (item 14) while holding the traveller
and pull on the connector in order to place it in the anchor
aperture opposite (item 9).
d. Release the button (item 14) and check that the connector
is properly seated in the anchoring aperture (item 9) and
the tilt lever (item 11) is correctly repositioned and locked
in rotation.
