With the Dolby NR system
With Dolby NR, low level high frequency components receive considerably more pre-
emphasis than the high level high frequency components. In other words, as the level
of the audio signal goes up, less and less pre-emphasis is available, thus the high
level high frequency components are compressed. When playing back, the system
provides the opposite effect. It expands the compressed signals which are originally at
high levels. The tape noise generated during playback is usually made up of low level
high frequency components.
In this process, the tape noise is, therefore, not
emphasized and signal-to-noise ratio is much higher.
This displays the lap time by counting the reproduced CTL pulses when the CTL/TC/
DIAL MENU
selector located on the control
panel is set to CTL.
