ASSEMBLE
button
Press this button to put the BVU-950
in the assemble edit mode.
The lamp will light. Press again and the lamp will go out.
@
INSERT buttons
Up to three buttons can
be pressed
at the same
time to select signal(s) to be edited
in the insert edit mode. If any of these buttons is pressed, the lamp lights up and the
BVU-950 goes into the insert edit mode.
The selectable signals are VIDEO, AUDIO
CH-1, and AUDIO
CH-2.
Press the button again to stop the insert editing selected. The button goes out. To
release the insert edit mode, press all buttons of lit lamps.
TRIM buttons
Use these buttons to trim the frames around an entered edit point. Press the + or —
TRIM button while pressing the IN button @ to move the edit-IN point. Press the + or
— TRIM button while pressing the OUT button € to move the edit-OUT point. Press
+ or — TRIM button once and the edit point is advanced or set back by one frame.
STANDBY button
You can easily see whether the BVU-950 is in the standby ON or OFF mode.
When this button lights up: The BVU-950 is in the standby ON mode. In this mode,
the head drum starts rotating and the BVU-950 is ready to operate.
Press this button to put the BVU-950 in the standby ON mode when it is in the
standby OFF mode.
When this button is not lit: The BVU-950 is in the standby OFF mode. In this mode,
the head drum stops rotating and the tension on the tape is released.
The unit enters the standby OFF mode when this button is pressed in the stop
mode (see the STOP button ۤ) or when the BVU-950 remains in the stop mode for
eight minutes.
e You can change the duration that the unit can stay in the stop mode from the dial
menu.

e Normally, the unit is set to the standby ON
mode
when
it enters the stop mode.
PREROLL button
Press this button to transport the tape to a preroll point (this point is usually five
seconds ahead of the IN point) at high speed. Use this button to prepare the tape to
start playing back or editing the desired scene manually.
When this button is pressed without entering an edit-IN point, the point where the
button is pressed will be the IN point, and the preroll starts to that IN point. To place
the tape at the IN or OUT point, press the IN button @ or the OUT button € together
with this button.
e You can change the preroll time from the dial menu.

REC (record) button
Press this button and the PLAY
button & at the same
time to start recording. With
this button pressed in the stop mode (see the STOP button @), the E-E mode video
and audio signals can be monitored.
To stop monitoring, press the STOP button @. In the playback, search, fast forward,
or rewind mode, you can also monitor the E-E mode video signal while this button is
pressed.
