13.2. TECHNICAL MAINTENANCE
These instructions describe the maintenance procedures for the extraoral X-ray system. These instructions apply to all the revisions of said equipment.
In order to ensure the operational safety and functional reliability of the equipment installed, at least once a year an authorized service technician must perform a full inspection of the device.
When taking measurements that require a multimeter, always use a calibrated digital multimeter.
All the following tests will be carried out. Customer should be notified prior to replacing parts.
Step
"Check that all labels located
-
on the detector/detectors,
-
on the 3D Panel (if present)
1
-
at the base of the column,
-
on the X-ray tube housing,
are intact, well attached and legible."
Check there are no external damages to the equipment which could reduce protection against radiation.
2
Open the generator covers and check there are no oil leakage on the tube-head; replace it if there are signs of leakages.
3
Remove the dust accumulated inside the generator casing using a vacuum cleaner and reattach the covers.
4
Check the remote emission button cable is not broken or scratched
5
Power off the unit, disconnect it from the mains power supply and check the condition of the main power supply cable. Replace it
6
in case of damage. Connect it back making sure the safety ground is securely connected.
Check the power switch verifying that the ON/OFF button is working properly and the touch panel display illuminates when the
7
switch is in the on position.
Check the touch console functionality: functions must respond to interrogation.
8
Check proper functioning of X-ray exposure LED and exposure buzzer
9
Check proper functioning of X-ray centring laser traces
10
Check if detector fits easily in the guides Pan and CEPH sides – only for unit with Cephalometric arm and one removable detector.
11
Perform a motors movement test running the Dummy panoramic procedure, making sure the movement on the 3 axis X, Y,R (rotation
and translation simultaneously) is smoothly and without noise. See figure 1, next page.
12
In case a Cephalometric arm is installed, perform a motors movement test of the cephalometric detector using the Dummy Ceph
exam procedure, making sure the movement on the axe H (translation) is smoothly and without noise. See figure 1, next page.
13
Perform column movements, up and down on the Z axis and check proper functioning. See figure 2, next page.
14
Check the emergency button functionality. Emergency button is used to stop X-ray device operation, it's located under the patient
15
support arm in proximity of the telescopic column
Verify that exposure is immediately interrupted when X-rays button is released
16
Check the X-Ray Generator functionality performing a complete trial exam exposure. Select any panoramic exam and reset the unit.
Hold down the emission button throughout the entire exam procedure. Absence of error messages assures a proper generator
17
functionality.
Perform a complete 2D calibration of the unit : column calibration, PAN x-ray alignment, PAN detector calibration, PAN mechanical
18
alignment, Laser test. In case of Cephalometric option perform also the followings calibration steps: Ceph x-ray alignment, Ceph
detector calibration, Ceph mechanical alignment, Nasion calibration, Ear guide rings alignment.
At the end make a calibration backup
19
Performa complete 3D calibration of the unit: Beam Limiter Test, Daily Check, Cylindrical test phantom acquisition ("Mattarellum").
20
At the end make a 3D calibration backup
21
Perform an exam on the 3D Quality Phantom and evaluate the quality of the outcome volumetric study.
22
The undersigned confirms that he/she has checked the unit for the above criteria and that he/she has handed over the unit in fully functional condition.
All inspection and maintenance work performed by the system owner and/or service engineer must be recorded in this document and kept near the unit!!
