9) Ask the patient to smile to uncover the upper teeth. Usually the vertical light trace falls between the canine cusp
and the distal surface of the upper premolar*.
In case of patient dysmorphia, approach the light trace to the canine, by using the console buttons
in order to optimise dentition focusing.
* the canine can be used as a useful reference to optimize the patient alignment, but this is not strictly necessary.
10) Press the CONFIRM button and just before leaving the room to press the X-ray emission button, ask the patient to

If you are performing a BITEWINGS examination, you NEED TO
ADJUST THE BITE PIECE TO A PRECISE HEIGHT. It is advisable
to remove the chinrest.
Then adjust the bite piece vertically, in the position where a clack is
heard and a slight resistance to vertical sliding is perceived. After
having reached this position, lock the bite piece as described in par.
5.4.2, by turning the lever to the locking position
6) Check the symmetry of the patient's head using the sagittal vertical trace
as guide.
7) Check proper positioning of the Frankfurt plane superimposing the upper
horizontal light trace. To adjust the patient's head inclination, act on the
column up and down movement buttons. Make sure that the patient keeps
his or her back straight and extended.
8) After having reached the correct positioning, lock the craniostat as
explained in paragraph 5.4.2:
A-
Push the front support forward until resting it against the patient's
forehead. The forehead pressure on the support stabilizes it
automatically.
B-
Close the arms until they adhere to the patient's cranium.
C- Rotate the upper levers downwards until locking the patient laterally.
