15. Defects – Malfunctions
Direct action by the customer
Before calling service personnel, to avoid unnecessary expense, check whether the machine problem corresponds to
one of the cases listed below.
PROBLEM
The coffee machine does not
work.
The machine does not dispense
coffee.
Leaking from the filter holder rim.
Coffee dispensing time too short.
Coffee drips out of machine.
Loss of water under the machine.
Machines supplied by a tank:
the pressure gauge indicates
the value of 9 bar also after
dispensing of coffee.
On the display the symbol of the
active heating element "
" remains displayed, but the
coffee machine does not reach
the operating pressure.
15.1 Diagnostics messages
There are 2 types of messages displayed by the machine:
1. Explicit messages: these appear in the last line at the bottom of the display; they are deleted with each new
cycle and reappear again if the cause generating them repeats.
These are warnings for the user, who can easily resolve them without the assistance of the Technical Service
Centre (e.g. EMPTY BASIN).
2. Messages in code: these appear in the top right-hand corner, with the following format: Exxx
These indicate the presence of categorised errors. They remain on the display and require the intervention of
the Technical Service Centre.
If there are several errors, they are shown one after another on the display.
CAUSE
No electricity supply.
Possible lack of water in the tank.
Underpan gasket dirty with coffee.
Coffee ground too coarse.
Coffee too old.
Filter holes blocked or filter holder
outlet hole dirty.
Coffee ground too fine.
Discharge basin full.
Intermittent phenomenon caused by
anti-backflow valves.
Possible intervention of the safety
thermostat.
SOLUTION
Check the electricity supply.
Check that the plug is inserted or that the
switch of separation from the line is closed.
Check the position of the main power
switch (1).
Check the colour of the display and whether
the
"out of water" icon is displayed.
Check the water level in the tank.
Clean using the special brush provided.
Use a finer grind.
Use new coffee.
Clean.
Use a coarser grind.
Empty.
This is a normal occurrence.
No action required.
Contact the Technical Service centre
where: · E indicates an error;
· xxx is the unit's error code.
