General safety instructions
WARNING
Read all the safety notes, instructions, illustrations and technical data which
come with this power tool. Failure to heed the following instructions can lead to
electric shock, fire and/or severe injuries.
Keep all safety notes and instructions for the future.
The term "power tool" used in the safety notes refers to mains operated power tools
(with power cable) and battery operated power tools (without power cable).
1) Workplace safety
a) Keep your workplace clean and well lit. Untidiness and unlit work areas can
lead to accidents.
b) Do not work with power tools in an explosive environment in which there
are inflammable liquids, gases or dusts. Power tools produce sparks which
can ignite the dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating the power tool. Distrac-
tions can lead to you losing control of the device.
2) Electrical safety
a) The plug of the power tool must fit into the socket. The plug may not be
modified in any way. Do not use adapter plugs with protective earthed power
tools. Unmodified plugs and matching sockets reduce the risk of an electric
shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed surfaces such as pipes, radiators, cookers
and refrigerators. There is a greater risk of electric shock when your body is
earthed.
c) Keep the power tools out of the rain and wet. Penetration of water into the
power tool increases the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not misuse the connecting cable to carry or hang up the power tool or
to pull the plug out of the socket. Keep the connecting cable away from
heat, oil, sharp edges or moving tool parts. Damaged or knotted connecting
cables increase the risk of electric shock.
e) When working with a power tool outdoors only use extension cables which
are suitable for outdoor work. Use of an extension cable suitable for outdoor
work reduces the risk of electric shock.
f) If use of the power tool in a wet environment is unavoidable, use a fault
current circuit breaker. The use of a fault current circuit breaker reduces the
risk of electric shock.
3) Safety of persons
a) Be cautious, pay attention to what you are doing and use power tools
reasonably and responsibly. Do not use power tools when you are tired or
under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medicines. Just one careless moment
when using the power tool can lead to serious injury.
b) Wear personal safety equipment and always wear safety glasses. Wearing
personal safety equipment such as a dust mask, non-slip safety shoes, a safety
helmet or ear protectors reduces the risk of injuries.
c) Avoid accidental operation. Make sure that the power tool is switched off
before connecting it to the power supply and/or the battery, picking up or
carrying it. Carrying the power tool with your finger on the switch or connecting
it to the power supply switched on can lead to accidents.
d) Remove setting tools or wrenches before switching on the power tool. A
tool or key left in a rotating part of the device can cause injuries.
e) Avoid abnormal body posture. Make sure that you have a firm footing and
keep your balance at all times. You then have better control over the tool in
unexpected situations.
f) Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep hair,
clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothing, jewellery or
long hair can get caught in moving parts.
g) Do not give yourself a false sense of security and do not ignore the safety
rules for power tools even when you are very familiar with the power tool
after frequent use. Careless actions can lead to serious injuries within fractions
of a second.
4) Use and handling of the power tool
a) Do not overload the tool. Use the power tool suitable for the work you are
doing. You can work better and safer in the specified power range with the suit-
able power tool.
