WARNING (CONTINUED)
• To avoid possible injury do not zero bed scales or weigh patient with Percussion,
Vibration, Rotation or Turn Assist active . Patient motion and position resulting from
the support surface may adversely affect scale system performance .
• To avoid possible injury confirm proper scale system operation following support surface installation . For best
results, secure the XPRT™ therapeutic support surface power cord to prevent damage to the cord and interference
with the bed frame and the scale system .
• Max Inflate should not be used as a firmness setting and is only intended for a short duration of up to 30 minutes .
• To avoid possible injury do not initialize "Arm" bed exit with Percussion, Vibration, Rotation or Turn Assist active . The
patient motion and position resulting from the support surface may adversely affect bed exit system performance .
CAUTION
• Do not drop the head section of the support surface back onto the bed frame . Abruptly dropping the support
surface head section could damage the controls and cause equipment malfunction .
• The XPRT™ therapeutic support surface should not be used adjacent to or stacked with other equipment to avoid
malfunction (excluding on a bed) . If adjacent or stacked use is necessary, the XPRT™ therapeutic support surface
should be observed to verify normal operation in the configuration in which it will be used .
• To avoid possible patient injury, do not use the side handles to transport the patient .
• Follow all applicable safety rules and protocols concerning patient and caregiver safety .
• To prevent pulling, removal or breakage, stabilize and secure all patient lines and tubing before starting rotation
and monitor them frequently .
• Monitor the patient's skin condition regularly to ensure skin integrity .
• Patients with body weight or size near the recommended limits should be monitored more frequently to verify
desired results are being achieved .
• The bed's caster brakes should always be locked except during transport to prevent unintentional movement .
• The bed should always be in the lowest position when the patient is unattended to minimize fall consequences .
• Do not iron, dry-clean, or tumble dry the XPRT™ therapeutic support surface, as this will cause malfunction and
damage the product .
• The support surface cover must be completely dry before storing, adding linens or placing a patient on the surface .
Failure to remove excess disinfectant could cause degradation of the cover material .
• Avoid contact of sharp objects with the support surface . Punctures, cuts and tears in the cover could result
in contamination of the cushions, prevent proper air pressure control and compromise therapy and safety .
• Avoid over exposure to alcohol or hydrogen peroxide . Swelling of the cover material will result .
• If fluids spill on any part of the controller or foot box, immediately unplug the power cord . Remove the patient from
the support surface and clean up the fluid . Fluids can cause corrosion of components and may cause the support
surface to operate erratically or may make some functions completely inoperable . Do not put the support surface
back into service until it is completely dry and has been thoroughly tested for safe operation .
