Notes:
• Tap the top of the awl handle until the indicator line
on the awl reaches the bone surface.
• To drill, place the distal tip of the recommended drill
bit onto the bone surface at the desired implantation
site. Advance the drill bit until the etch mark on the
drill bit reaches the bone surface.
• Tap the top of the awl-dilator handle until the threads
reach the bone surface. To ensure full insertion into
the bone, rotate the device clockwise until the laser
mark is flush with the surface of the bone.
3. Remove the awl from the insertion site by tapping lightly
on the underside of the handle.
4. Remove the awl-dilator from the insertion site by rotating
the device counterclockwise.
5. Establish axial alignment of the suture anchor to the
insertion site. While supporting the insertion site,
rotate the anchor clockwise into the insertion site with
the insertion device using a two-finger AO technique.
Continue rotating the anchor until desired placement is
confirmed by visual inspection.
Notes:
• The horizontal indicator line on the tip of the
insertion device identifies the top of the anchor.
Inserting the device to the top of the horizontal line
places the anchor approximately 1 mm below the
bone surface.
• Axial lines on the insertion device indicate suture
orientation within the anchor.
CAUTION: Use of excessive force during insertion can
cause failure of the suture anchor or insertion device. Use
a two-finger AO technique to insert the anchor.
If more torque is required to insert the anchor, stop and
ensure that the hole size and depth are correct for the
bone conditions encountered.
6. Disengage the inserter from the suture anchor.
i.
Hold the handle securely in the palm and pull back
on the finger grips with two fingers to retract the
suture tensioning mechanism.
ii. While holding the tensioning mechanism in the back
position with the finger grips, slowly remove the
inserter from the insertion site until the suture tips
are visible. The suture releases and feeds through
the inserter as it is removed.
iii. If necessary, remove the inserter from the implant
by tapping lightly on the underside of the handle.
Alternatively:
i.
Pull back on the finger grips and unwind the suture
with the free hand.
ii. Slowly remove the inserter.
iii. As the inserter is removed, pinch the suture below
the inserter using the free hand to verify suture
release from the inserter.
CAUTION: Do not use sharp instruments to manage
or control the suture.
7. Discard the insertion device.
CAUTION: After use, this device may be a potential
biohazard and should be handled in accordance with
accepted medical practice and applicable local and
national requirements.
