9. CUSTOMISATION & MAINTENANCE
LIGHTING AND SIGNALLING DEVICES AND ACCESSORIES
These devices must be installed in accordance with Directive 2007/46/EEC amended by Directive
97/28 and Geneva Regulation No. 48.
This is an officially approved product. Only the modifications suggested in this manual are
permitted. To mount certain items, we allow:
• The fitting of reflectors on the ends of the tube using the method of your choice. The reflectors and
their attachment method must not cover a radius of < 2.5mm.
• Welding of the plates, struts and the tube for installing cable grommets, brackets for sensors
and other accessories. Max. weld bead length 50 mm, spaced not less than 150mm apart.
• Max. Ø10 holes drilled in the tube. At min. 5 mm from the ends, spaced a min. of 150 mm apart
along the length and a min. of 50 mm over the height.
• The drilling of holes with a max. Ø10 in the struts. At min. 20mm from all cuts and ends, spaced 40 mm
apart.
• The trimming of the ends of the tube in accordance with the dimensions in figures 2 and 3.
• The trimming of the arms in accordance with the dimensions in figures 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.
PAINTING
When the product is painted, please mask the nameplate (EEC marking – attached to the right-hand
arm) as well as the pictograms.
Take care to mask the gas spring rods and the latch bolts.
MAINTENANCE
• After 1000 km and 2000 km of driving, check the tightening torque of the mounting screws, and
retighten to the recommended torque if necessary.
• As part of routine vehicle servicing, check the tightening torques of mounting screws in
accordance with Table 3.
• Periodically apply grease as part of the vehicle scheduled maintenance.
• During testing and use, the operator must ensure that there are no personnel in the area in
which bar movements occur.
•
Maintenance operations must be performed by qualified and accredited personnel. The standard practices
of each specialised trade (mechanics, hydraulics, electricity and pneumatics) must be respected.
• Ensure that the electric cables and hydraulic pipes are in good condition for use of the underrun bar
(replace them if they are damaged or show signs of advanced ageing).
• As part of routine vehicle servicing, perform a functional check on the underrun bar and its locking in the
"road" position
• Before each use, check the locking of the underrun bar in the road position (operate the underrun bar
(raise/lower) and set it to the road position).
END OF PRODUCT LIFE
All unserviceable products should be reclaimed or recycled through the appropriate
collection and disposal organisations.
