b) Checking the drive motor
• Since the drive motor is a maintenance-free
electric motor with a direct drive it is usually
not necessary to take off the cowling (1).
• However, if it should be necessary to check the
motor (2) after the rotating propeller has
touched the ground, screw off the propeller
and remove the four retaining screws of the
cowling.
• Afterwards, cut open the decal sheet along the
edge of the cowling with a sharp carpet cutter
and pull off the cowling towards the front.
• Afterwards, check the drive motor and whether
the retaining screws (3) are fixed properly.
• After you have replaced the cowling and tightened the screws, the propeller can be fixed again.
c) General Maintenance Work
Check the rudder linkages and the control functions of the servos on your model regularly.
All moving parts have to be easily movable but there should not be a clearance in the bearing.
If foam parts of the model must be glued on again after a hard landing, use either 5 min. epoxy resin or
a superglue that is suitable for hard foam. Avoid adhesives that contain solvents. If in doubt, check
whether the adhesive is suitable for hard foam in an area that is not visible.
Clean the exterior of the model and the remote control only with a soft, dry cloth or brush. Never use
aggressive cleansing agents or chemical solvents, since they might damage the surfaces.
