Collision protection

General

To protect the welding torch and the entire LaserHybrid head, the welding torch is
equipped with collision protection.
The collision protection works according to the principle of a floating contact. Above a cer-
tain welding torch deflection, the ring circuit opens between the two inputs for the robot
control.
The ring circuit goes from the LBDSP PC board on the LaserHybrid head, via the hose-
packs and the intermediate drive, to the connection for the robot interface or field bus used
on the power source.

Safety

The collision protection and its digital evaluation cannot replace an electromechan-
ical emergency stop protection device.
In the same way as the collision protection, the emergency stop protection device must
also trigger a cut-off of both the arc process and the laser process.

Operation

The home position must be checked after every collision. Proceed as follows:
1
2
3
Signal evaluation
The signal from the collision protection is detected by the LocalNet and transmitted via the
principle
robot interface (e.g. ROB 5000) or the field bus to the robot control.
If a collision occurs, the ring circuit opens, the signal level drops and the robot control has
to execute the following program sequence:
-
-
WARNING!
Set a 14 mm stick out on the welding torch of the LaserHybrid head
(see "Setting the relative position of the arc/laser")
Moving to the home position
Using a template, check the position of the focus point in the x/y direction
(see "Setting the focus point", subsection "x/y direction: preparation")
Immediately stop the laser and arc process
Immediately stop the robot movement
