It may be necessary to install a mechanical gas extractor for situations involving complicated hydrogen vent
pipework or significant lengths of piping. This extractor system (not supplied by BWT) must be hydrogen
compatible.
As shown in the diagram below, the hydrogen vent pipework must not create retentions or be fitted with
systems which may hinder the venting of the gas (valves, non-return valves, etc.).
No source of heat or electricity
near to the vent
No obstruction
(valves, etc.)
No traps
Oxidant
Oxidant reservoir
The oxidant reservoirs must have vents connected to the exterior of the building except where the installation is
located in a space which is not enclosed (in all cases ensure that the hydrogen cannot accumulate in the upper
sections of the unenclosed space).
The correct configuration of the vents (see below) is essential for safety.
Signs indicating the presence of hydrogen and a no-smoking sign should be installed near to the outside vents.
11.3 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS – OPERATOR INFORMATION SIGNS
At least the BWT Chemical Risk Information Notice concerning solutions generated by the ECO MX NANO
electrolysis process on-site must be attached to the oxidant storage reservoir and the safety instructions
should be displayed near to the installation. This, however, does not free the operator from having to display
their own information boards near to the installation in compliance with article R. 4412-39 of the French
Employment Code.
These notices must be displayed in the immediate vicinity of the installation such that they are clearly visible
and evident for users. The operator must ensure that these instructions or labels remain in good condition
and are fully legible.
