Resetting and Initializing the Printer

In many cases, you can eliminate a problem by resetting or initializing
the printer.

Reset

Resetting the printer clears the printer memory and returns the settings
to those previously saved with SelecType. The print job currently
loaded in memory is erased and the printer is ready to accept another
print job. Current settings and downloaded fonts are also erased.
You may want to reset the printer when you suspect the print job itself
is bad and the printer cannot print it.
To reset the printer, hold down the Reset button until RESET appears
on the display.
You can also reset the printer by sending the RESET command from
your software to the printer.

Initialize

Initializing the printer clears the memory and also returns
the SelecType settings to those in effect at power on. Any downloaded
fonts or printer settings that were changed from the defaults are lost.
Normally you initialize the printer when you are consistently having
problems printing or when the printer settings are not what you want.
To initialize the printer, hold down the Reset button until
INITIALIZE appears on the disply.
You can also initialize the printer by turning it off and then on. After
initialization, the printer returns to normal operation.
