STEP 10
These are the most important phases when setting up an automation, in
order to guarantee maximum safety.
Testing can also be used as a periodic check of devices in the automation.
The automation testing and commissioning phases must be
carried out by qualified and expert personnel who must define
the relevant tests on the basis of the risks present and verify
compliance with laws, regulations and standards, and in particular
with all the provisions of the EN 12453 standard which defines the
test method for verifying automations for sectional and up-and-
over doors.
10.1 TESTING
1 Ensure that all the specifications in chapter 1 "WARNINGS"
have been observed.
2 Using the radio transmitter, perform door closing and opening tests and
verify that the door moves as intended.
Several tests should be carried out in order to assess whether the door
slides smoothly and detect any defects in the assembly or adjustment, as
well as any points of excessive friction.
3 Verify one-by-one whether all the safety devices present in the system
(photocells, sensitive edges, etc.) work properly.
4 To check the photocells (if present), pass a cylinder with 5 cm diameter
and 30 cm length on the optical axis, first near the TX then near the RX
and, lastly, at the mid-point between the two photocells, and verify that in
all these cases the device is triggered, switching from active status to the
alarm status and vice versa; for example: reversal of the movement during
the closing manoeuvre.

TESTING AND COMMISSIONING
40
5 The verification of correct obstacle detection must be performed with
the 700x300x200 mm test parallelepiped with 3 matt black sides and 3
polished white or mirrored sides, according to the EN 12453 standard.
6 Measure the impact force according to the specifications of the EN
12453 standard. If the "motor force" is used to assist the system for
reducing the impact force, try to find the adjustment that gives the best
results.
7 Make sure that the entire mechanism is adequately adjusted and that
the automation reverses the manoeuvre when the door strikes an object
located 50 mm above the ground.
8 Make sure that the automation prevents or stops the opening movement
when the door is loaded with a 20 kg weight, secured in the centre of the
door's lower edge.
10.2 COMMISSIONING
Commissioning can only be performed after all testing phases
have been successfully completed. Partial or "makeshift"
commissioning is strictly forbidden.
1 Draw up the technical file of the automation that should at least
include the following documents: overall design (for example Fig. 1),
wiring diagram (for example Fig. 31), risk analysis and relative solutions
adopted, manufacturer conformity declaration for all devices used. For
