D. THE HELMET
UV-absorbing properties of the material, it provides effective protection
against UV radiation, which is harmful to the human eye. The shape
and thickness distribution of the visor were determined through
long-term research and development and the use of complex
mathematical methods. The visor sets standards for technical optics:
it is practically distortion-free throughout the entire field of vision and is
given the highest quality rating for its optics (Quality Class 1) –
essential for fatigue-free vision on long journeys.
Opening the visor
To open the visor, grip the visor by the finger tab
attached at left or right and move the visor shield
upwards to the required position.
Visor lock
The visor can be locked in any one of eight
positions. The second position is slightly stronger,
so the visor shield shows greater resistance in
this position. The visor can be operated at any
time irrespective of the position of the sun visor.
The visor mechanism requires no additional
lubrication.
Closing the visor
To close the visor, grip the left or right finger tab
and push the visor down with one movement of
the hand.

Caution:
Riding without the visor or with an open visor can result in injury
to the eyes and face through stones, dust, insects and other
flying objects. The sun visor, when lowered, will provide a certain
amount of protection from light impact from stones or insects
but cannot protect from all hazards.
Coating
The SCHUBERTH visor shield is treated with an anti-scratch and anti-
fog coating. The anti-scratch coating applied to the outer surface of
the visor increases its surface hardness and thus its resistance to
scratching. This considerably extends the life of the visor shield and
helps to maintain good visibility. The inner surface of the visor has a
specially developed, highly effective anti-fog coating that substantially
reduces misting of the shield.
Note:
When cleaning the visor shield – which is coated on both sides –
avoid vigorous rubbing and avoid immersing it in water (see care
instructions in Section H.2. "Visor and sun visor").
Note:
The active anti-fog and anti-scatch coating is subject to an ageing
process, the rate of which depends on the intensity of use and
the environmental conditions. For your safety, we recommend
replacing the visor if the anti-fog effect starts to deteriorate.
Tip:
After thorough cleaning, riding in the rain or long journeys in cold
weather, the anti-fog coating takes a little time to become
completely effective again. During this time, the coating is unable
to absorb much or any moisture from your breath. You can
accelerate recovery of the coating's anti-fog property by placing
the helmet in a dry, well-ventilated place.
