Sense Connections
Ensure that the sense cable is installed on the back of the instrument as shown. The only time the
sense cable should be disconnected from the output bus bars is when
If the sense cable is not installed prior to instrument turn-on or becomes disconnected, the unit will
continue to operate. The open-circuit voltage will now be higher at the output terminals than the
programmed value because the regulation point is now maintained through internal sense-protect
resistors. The actual voltage at the output terminals will be higher by the percent shown below, even
though the readback voltage will still reflect the programmed value.

SHOCK HAZARD, LETHAL VOLTAGES - Many models generate output voltages up to
2,000 VDC! Ensure that all instrument connections, load wiring, load and sense
connections are insulated using high-voltage wire. Always attach the safety cover
provided, so that no accidental contact with lethal voltages can occur.
The following factors should be considered when wiring the load to the power supply:
Load wire temperature, current carrying capacity, and voltage drop
l
Load and sense wire insulation rating must be equivalent to the output voltage rating
l
Load wire noise and impedance effect
