SHOCK HAZARD The instrument requires a chassis ground connection through a
separate conductor. The ac mains must include an earth ground connection.
In cases were the unit is not hardwired to the electrical system, a locking connector
scheme should be used as referenced in UL 498, IEC 60309, or equivalent. Consult a
local electrician for the connector scheme appropriate for your region.
480V/60A and 200V/30A connector examples:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEC_60309
Keep the ac mains cables as short as possible. The longer the cable, the greater the voltage loss due to
cable resistance.
If attached, remove the safety cover from
l
the unit.
Insert the power cord through the strain
l
relief bushing of the safety cover.
The strain relief bushing can accom-
modate a wire cable or individual wires.
Minimum inside diameter: 15 mm (0.6
in.).
Maximum inside diameter: 25.4 mm (1 in.)
Do not tighten the strain relief until all
l
wire connections are complete.
After all wire connections are complete,
l
attach the safety cover to the unit and
tighten the strain relief.
Attach the line wires to the ac mains
l
terminals (U.S. color code shown).
Maximum wire size: 6 AWG (16 mm 2 )
Wire stripping length: 18 mm
Always use a flat blade screwdriver to
release and fully open the wire clamp.
Optional ferrule suggestion:
l
For 6 AWG: WAGO 216-210
For 8 AWG: WAGO 216-289
For 10 AWG: WAGO 216-288
(Refer to manufacturer for details.)
Connect the ground wire to the
l
chassis stud below the ac connector.
The stud diameter is M5. Torque the
M5 combination nut to 20 in-lbs.
