Quick Instructions for the Reprocessing of
Bipolar Scissors According to DIN EN ISO 17664
These quick instructions are intended as a reference guide only. You should still read and
observe the complete instructions for use!

Danger of prion infection and risk of damage to the bipolar scissors
from improper use!
Destroy instruments immediately after potential contact with prions (risk of
CJD contamination) and do not use them again!
Do not use the "Sterrad" plasma sterilization method!
Do not sterilize with hot air!
Do not use "flash" autoclaving!

not immerse into hydrogen peroxide (H
To avoid scratching polished working tips and insulation, do not use
abrasive cleaning tools!
Damage such as bent tips, loss of insulation due to cracks or splintered plastic
coating and wear.
CSSD, instrument processing department
Store instruments in a clean, cool and dry place. Protect against mechanical
damage. Handle with great care. Do not drop or throw! Store and transport in
safe containers/packing.
Disconnect bipolar scissors from connecting cable and clean thoroughly under
running water or with an aldehyde-free disinfectant solution directly after use
(within a maximum of 2 hours) to prevent particles and dried secretions from
sticking to the instruments.
The machine process should be preferred!
For manual cleaning:
Insert instruments into an ultrasonicator with 0.5% enzymatic cleaning
agent.
Treat instruments with ultrasound for 15 min at 40°C (104°F).
Prepare cleaning bath according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Rinse instruments under cold mains water (<40°C/<104°F) until all visible
dirt has been removed. Remove hardened dirt with a soft brush.
Fully insert the instruments into the prepared cleaning bath. Observe the
exposure time according to the manufacturer.
Manually clean the inserted instruments with a soft brush. All surfaces
must be brushed off several times.
Rinse instruments thoroughly under running mains water to fully remove
the cleaning agent.
