ELECTRICAL CONNECTION

Electrical connection normally falls under the competence of the company that carried out
installation of the product, and the manufacturer of the UPS cannot be deemed responsible for
any damage due to wrong connections.
Avail of qualified staff only
All the electrical connection operations must be carried out by qualified and trained
staff.
Work in compliance with local standards
Installation of the KEOR XPE UPS must be carried out in compliance with national
and local standards.
Connection of the ground cable
The UPS must be connected to the ground, using the specific terminal. You are
highly recommended to connect the ground as the first terminal.
The electrical connection is part of laying on site and is normally carried out by a company that
deals with electrical systems and not by the manufacturer of the UPS. For this reason, the
following is for indication purposes, since the manufacturer of the UPS is not responsible for the
electrical system. In any case, you are advised to carry out electrical installation and
connections for input and output in compliance with local standards.
Cable selection must be made taking into consideration the technical, financial and safety
aspects. The choice and dimensioning of the cables from a technical point of view is based on
the voltage, the current absorbed by the UPS, the bypass network and the batteries, the
ambient temperature and the drop in voltage. Lastly, particular consideration must be given to
the type of cable laid.
Further clarifications on the choice and dimensioning of the cables can be inferred from the
relevant CEI standards, in particular standard CEI 64-8.
Some of the main causes of damage to cables are "short circuit currents" (very high currents,
but with short duration) and those of "overcurrent" (relatively high currents, but with long times).
The protection system normally used for cable protection is: automatic circuit breaker switches
or fuses. The choice of safety switches must be carried out both based on the maximum short
circuit current (lsc max), useful to establish the shut-off power of the automatic switches and the
minimum one (lsc min) necessary to stablish the maximum length of the protected line.
Protection against short circuit must take place on the line, before the thermal and electro-
thermal effects of the overcurrents can damage the cable and the relevant connections.
During electrical installation, you must pay particular attention to comply with the cyclic direction
of the phases.
The connection bars are positioned on the IOBM. To access the bars, the specific guards must
be removed.
