Installation / mounting the turbine
A special two-part mounting strap for mounting the turbine in the model is included in the set.
Please be sure to position the turbine in the mount with the glowplug located in the slot in the strap; you will
need to disconnect the glowplug connector beforehand. This prevents any danger of the turbine sliding out of
the mount in the axial direction.
If the turbine is to be mounted externally, e.g. on top of a model (-> "Kangaroo") a special mount is available
as an option.
Manual mode / test functions
During normal operation of the Jet-tronic the user has no direct control over the fuel pump or the fuel shut-off
valve. However, for filling the fuel lines or for test purposes it may be necessary to control the fuel pump
and/or the shut-off valve manually.
A special manual operating mode is provided for this purpose, and in this mode the Jet-tronic behaves as a
precision voltage controller (similar to a standard speed controller). In this mode the pump voltage
corresponds to the position of the throttle stick, and the shut-off valve is opened.
To activate the manual mode first move the AUX switch to the OFF position (-> all LEDs switched off). You
can now activate manual mode by pressing the "Manual" button on the Ground Support Unit (GSU), or the
small button on the LED board. The yellow "Standby" LED flashes, and the shut-off valve is kept open, all the
time that manual mode is active. If you now move the three-position switch on the transmitter to the centre
position (throttle trim must be forward = ON), the fuel pump starts running, and you can directly control the
voltage fed to the fuel pump by moving the transmitter throttle stick.
The pump can be stopped at any time by moving the throttle trim to OFF (naturally the throttle stick must also
be at OFF). If you now move the AUX switch to position 2 (Auto-off), the pump is fed the pre-set initial
voltage, i.e. the value which is programmed for the start-up procedure.
There are again two methods of quitting manual mode:
1.) By pressing the "Manual" button again;
2.) By moving the 3-position switch to the OFF position.
-> the yellow "standby" LED no longer flashes.
*
Important note:
Manual mode provides a means of starting and activating the fuel pump, although the turbine does not
run. This means that the turbine may be flooded with fuel unless you cut off the fuel supply to the
turbine beforehand. If you forget to do this, you can expect a "firework display" next time you start the
engine
For this reason: before you activate manual mode always shut off (-> disconnect) the fuel feed line to
the turbine, then there is no danger of anything untoward happening.
In manual mode the minimum rotational speed and the minimum temperature of the turbine are not
monitored, but all other safety parameters are still in force (e.g. max. temperature, max. rpm etc.).
