6.5 Stop valve
Fit a stop valve before and after the pump. In this
way, the system will not have to be drained and
refilled if it is necessary to replace the pump.

6.6 Direct installation in the pipework
With adequate fixing of the pipe in the immediate
vicinity of the pump installation point, it is permissible
to fit the pumps with motors up to 18.5 kW directly in
horizontal pipework.
6.7 Pumps with base
If the pipe does not have adequate carrying capacity,
pumps over a nominal diameter of 80 mm may
be fixed to the foundation pedestal or a wall bracket
by a base. However, to prevent any transmission
of vibration and noise, we recommend placing
the pump on a vibration-absorbing foundation.
For dimensions, see under 15.4 and 15.7.
6.8 Pipework
The pump must be installed stress-free so that
pipework forces cannot impair its function.
The pipework must be laid in such a manner that
no air can collect, especially in the suction pipe.
6.9 Bypass
The pump must not work against a closed

stop valve in the pressure pipe. Any rise in
temperature resulting from this together
with steam generation could damage the
pump.
To avoid this danger, a minimum amount
must always flow through the pump.
This is ensured by providing a bypass or
an outlet to a tank or similar vessel on
the pressure side of the pump.
