General information
4.1
Contents of these instructions
The contents of these installation and operating instructions apply to Biral HP/HPC pumps,
sizes 95–155.
4.2
Intended use
4.2.1
HP
The pumping, circulation and pressurisation of clean hot and cold water.
Main areas of use:
•
Local community water supply and pressurisation
•
Domestic water supply
•
Boiler supply and condensate pumping
•
Sprinkler, irrigation and drainage systems
•
Washing and cleaning systems
4.2.2
HPC
The pumping, circulation and pressurisation of clean hot and cold water, softened, demineralised
and distilled water. The pump can also be used for pumping brine and swimming pool water and
other fluids that contain chlorides (see Section 4.3. Pumped fluids). However, in such cases the
permissible fluid temperature is lower. Before using the pumps for such fluids or other fluids not
mentioned, consultation with Biral is necessary.
Main areas of use:
•
Local community water supply and pressurisation
•
Domestic water supply
•
Boiler supply and condensate pumping
•
Water treatment plants, ultra-filtration and reverse osmosis systems
•
Industrial circulation systems and process technology
•
Industrial washing and cleaning systems
4.3
Pumped fluids
The fluids permissible for pumping with the HP/HPC are low-viscosity, non-explosive fluids that
do not contain solid or long fibrous material. The pumped fluid must not be such that it chemically
attacks the pump materials. If a fluid with a density and/or viscosity different from water is to be
pumped, then attention should be paid to the actual motor power required based on the difference
in pump capacity.
The list below contains a selection of typical fluids. The details given should be understood as
guidelines and cannot replace testing the pump materials with the desired fluids under actual
operating conditions. Where hazardous fluids are to be pumped, the appropriate safety precau-
tions must be taken.
