Foundation construction
Warning
Make sure that the product is kept stable and securely held until it you are ready to
install it. In addition, it is essential to ensure that the foundation is suitable for the
weight of the product.
We recommend that the pump is mounted on a solid concrete base. The foundation must also
be adequately dimensioned in order to provide a secure permanent base for the entire pump
assembly. In addition, the foundation must be capable of absorbing vibration and the forces and
Additional support: pumps that are to be in-
stalled in mobile systems or ships should be
held by an additional bracket between the
motor mounting bracket and a rigid structural
component or wall.
To reduce and vibration noise, we recommend
that the piping should be provided with expan-
sion joints and the pumps mounted on vibra-
tion-absorbing bases. Shut-off valves must
be fitted upstream and downstream of the
pump. That will prevent the system having to
be drained if the pump needs to be cleaned,
repaired or replaced. The pump must be pro-
tected against back-flow by a non-return valve
(intake valve).
The piping must be installed in such a way that
air cannot collect, especially in the intake pipe.
A vacuum valve should be fitted to the pump in
the following types of installation:
•
The compressed air runs downwards
from the pump.
•
There is a risk of a siphon effect.
•
Protection against back-flow of contami-
nated fluid is required.
