The weight of the foundation must be at least 1.5 times the overall weight of the pump. The mini-
mum depth (hf) of the foundation is then calculated as follows:
(MPump x 1.5)
hf=
(Lf x Wf x δConcrete)
The density (δ) of the concrete is generally assumed to be 2,200kg/m³. In the case of installations
where low-noise operation is of particular importance, the weight of the foundation should be
5 times the weight of the pump.
The foundation must be provided with foundation bolts for fixing the base plate. See Fig. 18. Once
the foundation bolts are properly in place, the pump can be set up on the foundation. Then level
the base plate with the aid of shims until it is absolutely horizontal. See Fig. 19.

Vibration damping
Noise and vibration can best be prevented by standing the pump on a concrete base and provid-
ing it with vibration absorbers and expansion pipe joints.
If vibration absorbers are to be used, place them underneath the foundation. For pumps with a
motor rating of ≤ 30kW, the vibration absorbers can be installed as shown in Fig. 20. For pumps
with a motor rating of ≥ 37kW, a Sylomer® base can be installed as shown in Fig. 21.
