level, the distance between the transmitter
antenna and MICROPIEZO can be reduced to
1 m. The test distance of 1 m is allowed by
IEC 61000-4-3.

TROUBLESHOOTING
12.1
Diagnostic System and Symbols on the Keyboard
MICROPIEZO is provided with a diagnostic circuit that allows the detection of malfunctions and
viewing of their type on the touch keyboard by means of a symbol. Users, by using the following
table, are guided to identifying and the possible resolution of the malfunction detected.
Symptom
Yellow "handpiece" symbol
active and two short acoustic
signals when the pedal is
pressed.
Yellow "insert" symbol active
and two short acoustic signals
when the pedal is pressed.

WARNING: Portable RF communication
equipment (including peripheral devices such
as antenna cables and external antennas)
must not be used closer than 30 cm to any
part of the MICROPIEZO device, including
the cables specified by the manufacturer.
Otherwise, there may be a performance
degradation of these appliances.
Possible Cause
Handpiece/cord electrical
contacts wet.
MICROPIEZO handpiece not
connected to the appliance.
Handpiece not detected.
Faulty Handpiece.
Insert not present or not
properly tightened on the
handpiece.
Insert broken, worn or
deformed.
Electrical contacts wet cord/
handpiece.
Faulty Handpiece.
Tuning circuit malfunction.
Solution
Dry contacts with
compressed air.

Connect the handpiece.
Replace the handpiece.
Unscrew the insert and screw
it back correctly using the
torque wrench (see
Chapter
5.4 on page 27
).
