Fault diagnosis
8.1
In the event of faults or errors
Cease operation if the cause of the malfunction has not been clearly identified!
Stop the machine if you cannot clearly identify or allocate the error and if you cannot safely
rectify the malfunction.
Complete function test after rectification of fault!
➢ Check whether the Standstill Monitor MOC3ZA only switches after the time t
determined and documented has elapsed.
➢ After rectifying a fault, perform a complete function test.

If you cannot rectify an error with the help of the information provided in this chapter,
please contact your local SICK representative.
8.3
Error monitoring
The Standstill Monitor MOC3ZA has various functions for error detection. These functions
are run both on switching on the supply voltage and also cyclically during operation. If an
error is detected, then the device switches off the output circuit, the ERR and PWR LEDs
indicate the type of error state, and the semiconductor output ERR is switched on until the
error has been rectified and deleted.
The device differentiates between two types of error:
Internal error: ERR LED is illuminated Red.
Errors caused externally: ERR LED flashes Red. The type of error is indicated by
various error codes.
Supply voltage too low
Wire break/offset on L2
Wire break/offset on L3
EDM error
Simultaneity error
signal L1/L2 against L1/L3
A sequence of flashes is output cyclically with the illumination of the LED from one to five
times, followed by a longer pause. The error code indicates the type of the error. If there
are several errors at the same time, then only the error with the highest priority (i.e. with
the lowest error code) is indicated. After this error has been rectified, the remaining errors
are indicated as a function of their priority.
