On safety
The Standstill Monitor MOC3ZA complies with the requirements as defined for class B
as per EN 55011:2009 + A1:2010.
Class B devices are devices that are suitable for operation in the residential sector as well
as in those sectors that are connected directly to a low voltage supply network that (also)
supplies residential buildings.
The Standstill Monitor MOC3ZA must be used only as defined in section 2.2 "Applications
of the device". It must be used only by qualified personnel and only on the machine where
it has been installed and initialized by qualified safety personnel in accordance with these
operating instructions.
If the device is used for any other purposes or modified in any way — also during mounting
and installation — any warranty claim against SICK AG shall become void.

General safety notes and protective measures

Pay attention to the safety notes and protective measures!
Please observe the following items in order to ensure the correct use of the Standstill
Monitor MOC3ZA.
 During storage, transport and operation of the MOC3ZA the conditions stated in the
technical specifications must be met.
 If the device is opened or modified without authorization the safety function may be
impaired and the warranty will be rendered void.
 Damaged devices may not be placed in operation.
 During the mounting, installation and usage of the MOC3ZA, observe the standards and
directives applicable in your country.
 National and international rules and regulations apply to the installation,
commissioning, use and periodic technical inspection of the MOC3ZA. In particular pay
attention to the following directives:
– Machinery Directive
– EMC directive
– Work Equipment Directive
– Low Voltage Directive
– work safety regulations and safety rules
 Manufacturers and owners of the machine on which a MOC3ZA is used are responsible
for obtaining and observing all applicable safety regulations and rules.
 The notes, in particular the test notes (see chapter 7 "Commissioning and test notes"
on page 64) in these operating instructions (e.g. on use, mounting, installation or
integration into the machine control) must be observed.
 The tests must be carried out by qualified safety personnel or specially qualified and
authorized personnel and must be recorded and documented to ensure that the tests
can be reproduced and retraced at any time by third parties.

Environmental protection

The Standstill Monitor MOC3ZA is constructed in such a way that it adversely affects the
environment as little as possible. It uses only a minimum of power and natural resources.
