8 Troubleshooting guide
This section covers 2 situations that may occur when using the adapter with a
centrifugal pump. Follow the clinical protocol specified by the hospital and
consider the following troubleshooting suggestions.
8.1 Lack of flow
If the pump does not rotate or there is no flow, consider the following
troubleshooting suggestions:
• Verify that the pump is properly connected to the adapter. Ensure that the
pump is secure under the retaining ledge and the retaining latch of the
adapter.
• Verify that the adapter is properly connected to the drive motor.
• Reduce the pump speed to zero and restart the drive motor.
• Follow hospital protocol to reestablish flow.
8.2 Unusual noise
If the pump or the adapter vibrate or make a grinding noise, consider the
following troubleshooting suggestions:
• Verify that the pump is properly connected to the adapter. Ensure that the
pump is secure under the retaining ledge and the retaining latch of the
adapter.
• Verify that the adapter is properly connected to the drive motor.
• Reduce the pump speed to zero and restart the drive motor.
• Follow hospital protocol to reestablish flow.
• Consider replacing the pump or the adapter if the vibration or grinding
noise continues.
9 Storage and cleaning of the Affinity CP adapter
Warning: Do not sterilize the adapter. Sterilization may damage the adapter.
Caution: Do not store at extremes of temperature and humidity. Avoid storing
the adapter in direct sunlight.
Caution: Do not use alcohol-based solutions, other organic solvents, or
concentrated acids or bases on the adapter. The adapter may be damaged by
these solutions.
Follow your hospital's protocol to clean or disinfect the adapter and consider
