Checking the cylinder
•
After checking for scoring, check cylin-
der surface wear using a dial gauge
graduated in hundredths of a millime-
tre.
•
Measure the inner diameter of the cyl-
inders at three different heights, turn
the dial gauge (graduated in hun-
dredths of a millimetre) 90° and repeat
the measurements; set the dial gauge
graduated in hundredths of a millimetre
to zero using a ring gauge before
measuring.

Checking the piston
•
Measure the piston skirt diameter (1)
with a micrometer from the piston lower
border (2)=10 mm (0.39 in).
•
Replace the cylinder, the piston and
the piston ring all together if not com-
plying with specifications.
