11. Starting the Model Helicopter

a) Checking the Screwed Connections
Be absolutely sure to check that all screwed connections have a secure seat after transport and before flying. Percussions during transport and during flight may cause the
screwed connections to loosen. For this reason, you must conduct a thorough pre-flight check as with a real helicopter.
b) Checking the Mobile Parts
Before flying, be absolutely sure to check all mobile and
movably mounted parts for unobstructed movement.
They must be able to move without obstruction, but
may not exhibit any play. As with a real helicopter, this
is part of a thorough pre-flight check.
You should regularly oil the swashplate (1), the pitch
compensator (2) and the control sleeve of the tail rotor
(3) so that you retain unobstructed movement.
When oiling, only use oil that does not
resinify. This can be special oil for flight
models or sewing machine oil.
c) Mounting the main rotor blades
Screw the enclosed main rotor blades in the corresponding fixture on the rotor head.
Attention!
Only tighten the rotor blade screws to the point that the blades can still be exactly aligned by the centrifugal force.
d) Inserting the Flight Storage Battery
The flight storage battery is not part of the product contents. In order to mount the flight storage battery, proceed
as follows:
Remove the canopy.
Strip the two connector cords (2) and (3) to approximately 5 mm.
Tin-plate the stripped ends and solder the high-current connectors on, which you need for the storage battery
used. In so doing, be absolutely sure to check for the correct polarity.
Push the storage battery into the bracket (4) and secure it with the Velcro trips (1).
The helicopter has a safety mechanism to prevent the accidental start-up of the motor. If the contact to the
storage battery has been established although the remote control has not been activated or the control stick
for the pitch (Figure 1, Item 18) has not been pushed to zero, the control electronics in the model will not issue
a start command to the motor. Only once the remote control has been activated and the control stick for the
pitch (Figure 1, Item 18) has been pushed to zero, do the control electronics release the normal operating
state. You will notice this by the beeps the control electronics emit in the process.
Attention:
In order to prevent the motor from inadvertently starting if the safety mechanism fails, the remote control should be turned on. The control stick for the pitch
(Figure 1, Item 18) must be pushed to zero such that no command to accelerate is issued. Test this prior to connecting the storage battery by only very
briefly touching the contact between the storage battery and the helicopter and only if the motor doesn't start at this point, you may now establish permanent
contact.
Connect the connector cord with the storage battery.
Remount the canopy.
