Assembly and function

1.1

Mechanical assembly

The CERTOMAT® CTplus is an easy-to-operate, high-
performance, durable cabinet incubation shaker for
universal use in biological and chemical laboratories,
for instance.
The basic version of the CERTOMAT® CTplus includes
the shaker drive and integrated heating unit. The
shaker drive comprises a brushless external rotor
motor and the low-noise, robust Poly V-belt drive.
Shaker drives are available with different strokes that
can be adapted on site by our service engineers. The
various shaker speeds are continuously adjustable.
The shaker can be equipped with trays of different
sizes and numerous brackets, frames and collecting
systems of the CERTOMAT® shaker range.
Two large insulating glass doors facilitate the
mounting and removal of the shaker container or
changing of the tray and also permit visual
inspection. For incubations in the temperature range
near to and below room temperature a cooling unit
can be installed. An illumination unit is also available
as a further option.

below and detailed information is contained in
Chapter 12 "Technical data, ordering information".
This allows you to define the equipment of the
cabinet shaker according to your specific
requirements.
The incubation cabinet of the cabinet shaker is made
of stainless steel and has no weld seams. The motor
and drive system are sealed from the interior. A drip
pan is installed on the floor in order to prevent any
uncontrolled escape of shaken media if any vessels
break. The drip pan can be easily removed from the
incubation cabinet and cleaned. This design also
makes cleaning the cabinet shaker easier.

The humidity in the incubation cabinet is generated
by a heated pan of water in the air stream of the
device. The relative humidity is measured and
controlled by a sensor.
The cabinet shaker can be used as a floor unit or
tabletop device and 2 - 3 cabinet shakers can be
stacked. For stacking of 2 cabinets or more, a base
frame is available which can be used to bring the
cabinets to an optimum operating height.

Equipment options

1.2.1 Shaker drives

The operating terminal and control electronics for the
drive are integrated in the control unit on the right of
the cabinet.
The shaker drive is located under the drip pan of the
incubation cabinet. The drive corresponds to the
CERTOMAT® RM laboratory shaker and, depending on
the version, is designed for:
- Circular motion: Ø 25 mm or Ø 50 mm
(depending on the version in the as-delivered
condition; can also be adjusted on site to the
alternative amplitude by the service engineers of
Sartorius Stedim Systems GmbH).

1.2.2 Trays

Trays can be provided with pre-fitted brackets for
Erlenmeyer flasks (type E or F) or are available for
individual fitting as universal trays, type EU or FU.

Universal trays can be fitted with brackets for
Erlenmeyer flasks of different sizes, swivelling reagent
flask holders and universal assembly systems. The
universal assembly systems allow a wide range of
vessels to be installed, e.g. bottles or beakers. In
addition, non slip mats and adhesive film are available.

1.2.3 Illumination unit

An illumination unit with 5 fluorescent tubes (18 W
each) is available as a further option. Each fluorescent
tube can be switched off separately. The mounting of
the illumination unit is described in Chapter 2.3.3.

An infrared sensor is used, measuring range - 20 %,
with innovative silicon technology for excellent
stability of the measurements. Together with the
control electronics of CERTOMAT® CTplus, this system
quickly and safely reaches the specified target values
for CO
. Even after taking or adjustment of samples the

concentration also quickly reaches the target value
