Initial operation

According to the laboratory instrument standards EN / IEC 61010-2-020 an emergency switch to separate power
supply in the event of a failure must be installed in the building electrical system.
This switch has to be placed remote from the centrifuge, prefered outside of the room in which the centrifuge is
installed or near by the exit of this room.
Remove the transportation safety device from the bottom of the housing, see sheet "Transportation safety device"
Position the centrifuge in a stable and level manner in a suitable place. During set-up, the required safety
margin of 300 mm around the centrifuge is to be kept according to EN / IEC 61010-2-020.
When the centrifuge is running, according to EN / IEC 61010-2-020, no persons, dangerous
substances or objects may be within the safety margin of 300 mm around the centrifuge.
Do not place any object in front of the ventiduct.
Keep a ventilation area of 300 mm around the ventiduct.
Insert the supplied drainage hose (∅ 16 mm) firmly to the correct coupling connection on the back of the
centrifuge.
Connect the free end of the drainage hose to a suitable collection container or drain.
The drainage hose must not be kinked and there must be a continual downward slope to the collecting
container. The fault-free functioning of the drain must be checked regularly. If the drainage hose is
kinked or blocked, the liquid accumulates in the centrifugal area, pours into the motor area and causes
damage to the centrifuge!
There are physiological saline solutions, which are preserved with sodium azide. This can result in
explosive azide salts in the drainage pipes. Ascertain with the manufacturer the type of saline solution
before you start to put the physiological saline solution needed in to the drain.
Device without 3-way valve:
Insert the free end of the supplied drainage hose (∅ 7 mm) firmly to the correct coupling connection on the back
of the centrifuge. Place the intake pipe of the supply hose into the physiological saline solution container. If need
be, pull out the intake pipe (metal part) from the supply hose and connect the supply hose with the help of
adapter (plastic part) to the container of the physiological saline solution.
Device with 3-way valve:
Insert the free ends of the two supplied supply hoses (∅ 7 mm) firmly to the coupling connections "NaCl" and
"H
O" of the 3-way valve. See the chapter on the "3-way valve" about connections of the 3-way valves.

Place the intake pipe of the supply hose, which is connected to the "NaCl" coupling connection, into the
physiological saline solution container. Place the intake pipe of the supply hose, which is connected to the "H
coupling connection, into the distilled water container. If need be, pull out the intake pipe (metal part) from the
supply hose and connect the supply hose with the help of adapter (plastic part) to the container. Turn the 3-way
valve to the "NaCl" position so that the system is connected to the physiological saline solution; see the chapter
on the "3-way valve".
Check whether the mains voltage tallies with the statement on the type plate.
Connect the centrifuge with the connection cable to a standard mains socket. For connection ratings refer to
Chapter "Technical specification".
Turn on the mains switch. Switch position "Ι".
The machine type and program version will be displayed and the LEDs light up.
