8.2.2.7.1 Adjusting the measurement chain ("Adjustment")
The measurement chain is adjusted at the factory, and outputs correct force values after
starting (within the scope of the measurement uncertainty). Adjustment is not necessary
during normal operation. You can adapt the characteristic curve if you want to use the
result of a calibration to improve the calculation of force values (linearization).
More fields and input options are available:
S
Calibration date: Here you can record the date on which the sensor was calibrated.
If you have HBK calibrate the sensor, the HBK calibration laboratory will enter the
data.
S
Calibration Authority: Here you can enter the calibration laboratory that performed the
calibration. If you have HBK calibrate the sensor, the HBK calibration laboratory will
enter the data.
S
Certificate ID: You can enter the number of the calibration certificate here.
S
Expiration Date: Here you can enter when the sensor is to be recalibrated. The time
between two calibrations is defined by the customer, so if HBK performs the calibra
tion there is no entry in this field.
S
Linearization Mode: Here you enable and disable linearization, and thus the effect of
entering the results of a calibration certificate. Disabled: Function ineffective; Step
wise Linear Adjustment: Enter supporting points (see "Linearization via supporting
points"); Cubic Polynomial Adjustment: Enter a compensating polynomial: 1st, 2nd or
3rd order (see "Linearization via compensation function")
Notice
When calibrating the sensor, it is important to use the factory characteristic curve.
To do this, please set the "Linearization Mode" parameter to "Disabled" during calibration.
If you do not, the linearization will be calculated incorrectly during subsequent operation.
Important
Note that linearization is only effective if "Linearization Mode" is NOT set to "Disabled".
