3. Shaft surface quality and hardness
The recommended surface roughness is ≤ 10 μm.
The shaft must have a minimum hardness of 50 HRC.

Assembly without adapter
If you use the force transducer version without an adapter, it is screwed onto an existing
structural element with the outer pitch, see Fig. 7.5. The other side of the force applica
tion is implemented via the central thread of the U10M. Please read Section 7.3 or when
using a knuckle eye Section 7.4 and mount accordingly.
With this method of installation, transducers can measure forces in both tensile and pres
sure directions. Alternating loads are also correctly recorded if the transducer is mounted
without axial play. The transducer can be used without restrictions with the full oscillation
bandwidth.
Installation is facilitated by centering aids at the top and bottom of the transducer.
The admissible centering depth on the bottom is equivalent to dimension Z (see page 82).
