Important
The transducer degree of protection can drop if the cable connection does not have the
same protection level as the transducer.
8.1.3
4-wire connection
When transducers in a six-wire configuration are connected to amplifiers in a four-wire
configuration, the sense leads of the transducers must be connected to the correspond
ing excitation voltage leads: Marking (+) with (+) and marking (-) with (-), see Fig. 8.1. This
measure reduces the cable resistance of the excitation voltage leads, among other
effects. If you use an amplifier with a 4-wire circuit, the output signal and the temperature
dependence of the output signal (TCS) depend on the length of the cable and the temper
ature. If you use the 4-wire circuit as described above, this will result in slightly higher
measurement errors. An amplifier system working with a 6-wire circuit ensures perfect
compensation for these effects.
8.1.4
EMC protection
Electrical and magnetic fields often induce interference voltages in the measuring circuit.
Therefore:
S
Use only shielded, low-capacitance measurement cables (HBM cables fulfill both con
ditions).
S
Do not route measurement cables parallel to power lines or control circuits. If this is
unavoidable, protect the measurement cable, e.g., using rigid steel conduits.
S
Avoid stray fields from transformers, motors and contact switches.
S
Connect all the devices in the measurement chain to the same protective conductor.
S
Always connect the cable shield extensively on the amplifier side, to create the best
possible Faraday cage.
S
Do not ground transducers, amplifiers and indicators more than once.

General information
If you have ordered the sensor with integrated amplifier (or permanently connected
amplifier module), the amplifier and force transducer form a measurement chain that
cannot be separated. The measurement chain is calibrated as a unit accordingly.
The digital sensors output the measurement result in Newtons. Here in the test record
you will find a table indicating the measured value that is outputted at a set force.
Due to the very low measurement error of the digital sensors, the difference between
the two values is very small.
