Preparations
The scarifier must not be used by anybody who is not
familiar with the operating manual.
In Germany, the minimum age for using the device is
18. Under supervision and for training purposes,
young persons over the age of 16 are allowed to
operate the device. According to health and safety
requirements for the prevention of accidents, persons
below the age of 18 must not operate, set up or repair
scarifiers. Please comply with the local regulations in
your area, as they may affect the minimum age for
using this equipment.
The device must not be used if children or animals are
in the vicinity.
Operating personnel are responsible for any accidents
involving other persons or for any damage caused to
their own property.
Ensure that you explain the potential risks of using the
device to everyone who is unfamiliar with it, and also
explain how accidents can be avoided.
Only use the scarifier during daylight hours or under
suitable artificial lighting.
Persons with a pacemaker must not work on current-
carrying parts of the ignition system during start-up or
while the engine is running.
Machines with a HONDA engine are suitable for
slopes
and
embankments
gradient of 20°.
The scarifier should be stored in a dry and enclosed
room where it is not accessible to children.

Transport

The engine must be switched off when the device is
being transported outside the areas of grass being
worked on. The scarifier shaft must have sufficient
clearance to the ground. Please adjust the working
height accordingly.
Always place the scarifier down on its wheels. Fluids
may leak if the device is tipped up or laid down on one
side.
Allow the engine to cool sufficiently before transporting
the scarifier in an enclosed vehicle, and ensure that
adequate ventiliation is provided to deal with the
escaping petrol vapour.
Ensure that the device is properly stowed in the
vehicle so that no hazards can arise while driving.

Getting ready to use the scarifier
Before starting work it is important that the area you
wish to work on is cleared of objects like stones,
pieces of wood, bones, pieces of wire etc.
Check that all attached parts are securely tightened.
Any damaged or heavily worn parts must be replaced
before you start working with the scarifier.
Please observe the notes on installation and the
specified tightening torques.
Always wear appropriate footwear and long trousers
when working with the scarifier. Never scarify barefoot
or in sandals.
Before use, always perform a visual inspection to
check that the tines and tine shafts and their retaining
bolts are in good working order. To avoid imbalances,
worn or damaged working tools should always be
replaced as a complete set.
Scarifiers with a four-stroke engine must be filled
with engine oil before they are started up (please
refer to the requirements in the engine operating
manual which is also supplied).
Check the oil level before every use.

Fuel

Special care must be taken when handling fuel.
- Fuel is highly flammable. Only refuel out in the open,
never in enclosed rooms.
- Smoking and naked flames are prohibited.
- Avoid fuel spillages.
- In the event of a fuel spillage, immediately clean the
scarifier. Do not start the engine until this has been
done.
- Ensure that no fuel is allowed to get into the soil.
- Fuel must only be transported and stored in
approved and suitably labelled containers.
- The fuel tank, tank closure and fuel lines should be
replaced immediately if they become damaged.
- Visually inspect the fuel system before every use.
- Refer to the separate operating manual provided by
the engine manufacturer.
