Refuelling

Important: Environmentally friendly unleaded petrol
can be used without any concerns.

separate operating instructions provided by the
engine manufacturer.
- Allow the engine to cool off before refuelling.
- Thoroughly clean the area around the filler opening,
unscrew the tank closure and fill up with fuel to the
bottom edge of the filler neck.
- Firmly re-close the tank closure.
Note: Fuels may contain substances with properties
similar to solvents.

- The internal combustion engine must not run in
enclosed rooms in which harmful exhaust gases
could acuumulate.
Risk of poisoning!
- The engine and exhaust can get very hot:
Do not touch!
- For your safety, this scarifier is equipped with an
emergency switch. If the emergency switch
(located on the left of the handle) is released, the
engine – and therefore the scarifier shaft with the
scarifier tines – will stop within a few seconds.
- Ensure you take up a good position when working
on a slope.
- Always work across the slope, never up and down.
- Be particularly careful when changing direction on a
slope.
- Do not work on excessively steep slopes (maximum
gradient of 20°).
- Push the scarifier at normal walking speed.
- Avoid walking backwards with the scarifier, as there
is a risk of tripping up.
- Always adopt a normal posture when working with
the scarifier. Ensure you have a secure footing and
keep a good balance at all times.
- Always maintain the distance to the scarifier which is
given by the length of the handle.
- Always ensure that you keep your hands and feet at
a safe distance from the rotating tools.
- Stop the working tools if you need to tip the scarifier
slightly to transport it. Stop the working tools if you
are crossing ground which is not covered in grass
and when transporting the scarifier to and from the
area you are working on.
- Never leave the scarifier unsupervised while the
machine is running.
- When you leave the machine, secure it so that it
cannot roll away.

Starting the scarifier

- Never use starting aid fluid.
Starting aid fluid is flammable and explosive.
- Position the scarifier on level ground when starting it
up.
- Do not tilt the scarifier while starting it.
- Before starting work, ensure that you are familiar will
all of the equipment and all of the controls and their
functions. Check that all of the safety devices are
correctly fitted. Once you have started working it will
be too late to do it!
- Check that the safety devices all work correctly.
- As well as the instructions in this operating manual,
please also refer to the general safety instructions
and instructions for avoiding accidents.

Stopping the engine

Switch off the engine and disconnect the spark
plug cap:
- before you check, clean or perform work on the
scarifier,
- before you remove any blockages or clear the
working tools.
The engine should be switched off:
- whenever you take off the upper part of the handle
from the lower part,
- when moving the scarifier outside the lawn area
being worked on,
- if you need to leave the machine for a short time,
- if you need to adjust the working height,
- before refuelling,
- if the scarifier needs to be lifted or tipped for
transportation,
- if you need to cross other areas which are not
covered in grass,
- when transporting the machine to and from the area
being scarified.
- Never lift a machine while the engine is running.
- If the scarifier is blocked – e.g. because it has been
driven up onto an obstacle – consult an expert
before deciding whether any of the parts of the
scarifier have damaged or deformed.
- The scarifier should be immediately checked if it
starts to vibrate unusually.
- Never change the basic settings of the engine.
