External Sync Function
Description of External Sync Function
Synchronizing this deck's system clock with an external source enables system upgrading with video equip-

Note:
When digital input signals are to be recorded (even if another external sync mode has been selected), the
deck will operate automatically in the digital audio data sync mode.

29.97 Hz or 30 Hz for an NTSC system.
Method of Operation
Setting the external sync mode

Notes:
- The external sync mode is set in the external sync setting mode.
(1) Selecting the external sync mode
Press the EXT SYNC button.
The deck is placed in the external sync setting mode, and the currently set external sync mode (the simplified
code for each mode) is displayed. (It is displayed continuously while the button is pressed and the display lasts
for about 3 seconds even after the button is released.)
Press the EXT SYNC button again while the external sync setting mode is displayed (approx. 3 sec.).
Each time the button is pressed, the external sync mode changes in the sequence indicated in the above table.
When any of the external sync modes except internal has been selected:
¢ The external sync indicator lights when synchronization has been successfully achieved.
e If there is a problem with the synchronization (such as when the correct external sync signal has not been
supplied), the external sync indicator flashes to warn of trouble, and the deck is automatically set to the
internal mode.
