reproduced and the sampling frequency are dis-
played, and the absolute time of the recording
start position appears on the counter display.
The source monitor mode is automatically selected when the unit is placed in the trim mode.
When the COUNTER MODE button is pressed, source monitor and RAM monitor modes are selected
alternately.
Regardless of the monitor mode setting, the RAM monitor mode is established during rehearsal playback
and the source monitor mode is established for 3 seconds upon completion of rehearsal playback.
Checking the editing position (rehearsal playback)
Reference:
The timing of the recording start position can be checked.
In the trim mode (or during rehearsal playback), press the REHEARSAL button.
The tape is played back once (for 2 to 5 or so seconds) from the start of the playback data stored in the memory
to the designated frame position. The play indicator lights.
When the player DAT deck is set to the quick start mode and its tape is cued to the playback start position,
the recorder DAT deck will be placed in the source monitoring mode upon completion of rehearsal play-
back, enabling the rehearsal playback of the player deck's tape to be monitored. This makes it possible to
check the continuity of the sound at the editing position.
If the edit is found to be incorrect, then simply re-trim the start position on either machine, and repeat rehearsal
playback to check it.
Starting the editing
Connect the 8-pin remote cable between the two SV-4100's.
Press the PLAY button of the recording deck. The recording DAT deck starts playback up to the edit point. Upon
reaching the edit point, it goes into the recording mode. The Quick Start indicator stops flashing and lights.
At the same instant that it begins to record, the recording deck sends a play start command to the source deck
on the 8-pin remote cable. Playback begins immediately on the source deck due to the Quick Start, and the signal
is recorded on the recording deck.
Both machines indicate absolute time as in normal record and playback mode, with the respective rec and play
indicators lit.
To release simple assemble editing:
Press the STOP button. The quick start indicator stops flashing and lights, and the regular counter indication
is restored on the display.
Conducting simple insert-editing

Reference:
Only PCM signals (audio data) are recorded for simple insert-editing, which has no effect on the recorded sub
codes.
(1) Procedure for simple insert-editing
Determine the editing end position (punch-out point) and enter it into one of the LOCATE 1-4 buttons.
Find the edit start position (punch-in point).
Put the machine in trim mode for simple assemble editing. Set the trim so the punch-in point becomes the start
position. At this time, the rec and quick start indicators should be flashing.
Press the LOCATE button in which the punch-out point has been stored. Simple insert-editing begins.
Spot erasure is accomplished by setting the recording to its lowest level (0) during editing.
Set the INPUT selector to ANALOG, using the same sampling frequency as the rest of the tape.
