Quick Start Function
While the PCM playback data is being stored in the RAM, the pause indicator flashes and no playback sound
is heard from the monitor. When the storing of the PCM playback data in the RAM is completed, this is
announced by the quick start indicator which flashes.

The trim position can be finely adjusted in frame increments.

tion
The change in frame value displayed represents deviation from the initial quick start position. The "00" point
is at the center of three seconds worth of recording. The exact start point may be varied, or trimmed to any frame
within that 3-second (100 frames) period. The quick play start position moves forward (toward end of tape) on
plus (+) values, and backward (toward beginning of tape) on minus (~) values.
While the start position is being adjusted using the SETTING dial, sound is audible at a reduced level from
normal playback.
To release the trim mode:
Press the STOP button. The quick start indicator stops flashing and lights, and the regular counter indication
is restored on the display.
Checking the quick start position (rehearsal playback)
When the quick start position has been determined or finely adjusted in the trim mode, the timing at which the
sound is heard can be checked by conducting *rehearsal playback.
*Rehearsal playback:
This refers to playing back the tape from the playback start position set until the end of
the data which has been stored in RAM.
During rehearsal playback the following information appears on the display.
© The absolute time of the quick start position is indicated on the counter display.
© The number of frames by which fine adjustment was made appears on the program number display
preceded by a "+" or "—" sign.
¢ Start ID or Skip ID if present, and audio peak level on the bargraph display.
Hint:
_ By observing the bargraph, the exact point at which audio begins may be found. To do this, increment or
decrement the frame one by one. When there is no peak level indication at one frame, but the frame immedi-
ately following shows a level, then that is where the audio begins. Writing a Start ID beginning at this frame
results in a precise cue point.
