Determining the quick start position (trim mode)
Note:
(1) Trim mode
The quick start position can be finely adjusted (trimmed) in frame increments of up to 50 frames before or after
the initially set tape playback start position.
There are 2 approaches for defining trim position; by actually rolling the tape from any recorded position, and
by direct input of an absolute time, Start ID, or PNO.
The following details appear on the display in the trim mode.
The absolute time of the quick start position is indicated on the counter.
The relative frame value by which fine adjustment can be made appears on the program number display
accompanied by a "+" or "~" sign.
When the TIME INPUT button is pressed in the trim mode, the present absolute time frame location
appears on the program number display for as long as the button is kept depressed.
Start or Skip ID's (if present) and peak level shows on the display for the current quick start position as a
general guide to positioning.
The recorder is not placed in the trim mode when the QUICK START button is OFF or when the absolute
time has not been recorded on the tape.
(2) Determining the trim position during stop or playback
Confirm that the quick start indicator is lit. Press the STANDBY button. About 5 seconds of PCM playback data
are stored in *RAM. When this process is complete, the program point on the tape when the STANDBY button
was pressed is at the center of the stored data. The start position can then be changed, or trimmed over a range
of 100 frames from that center point (50 in either direction, or about 3 seconds worth of the data).
*RAM:
Thisisasemiconductor buffer memory which enables data to be saved and loaded instantly. This unit's
RAM has a 8 Mbit capacity.
(3) Designating the trim position directly
There are two methods of designating this position:
1) by using absolute time and
2) by designating the Start ID or program number.
Note:
To use the procedures described below, confirm the following:
¢ The quick start indicator is lit
¢ The unit is in STOP mode (no indicator lights on PLAY, PAUSE, or REC buttons)
e A tape is loaded and Absolute Time is displayed
No.
