Safety
Safety instructions and safety equipment serve to prevent accidents and
damage when working on the collet chuck. The safety instructions contain
warnings and basic safety instructions. In addition to the safety instructions
in this chapter, the following chapters contain action-related warnings.
Maximum protection of personnel and the environment from dangers and
trouble-free operation is only possible when all safety instructions and
warnings in this operating manual are observed.
2.1
Intended Use
The collet chuck CAPTIS-M is exclusively intended for the manually oper-
ated clamping of workpieces by means of collets. The collet chuck CAPTIS-
M is suitable for rotating use in lathes and for stationary use in drilling,
milling and machining centres, measuring machines as well as for conven-
tional and manual handling.
The permissible usage and environmental conditions must be observed (see
Environmental and operating conditions [} 67]).
The collet chuck is only intended for commercial use.
The collet chuck CAPTIS-M is used for internal clamping of round work-
pieces, turning, grinding, milling and gearing operations as well as for bal-
ancing. The collet chuck is suitable for clamping workpieces in through
holes.
Actuation is effected in a force-actuated manner (hydraulically, pneumatic-
ally or electrically) or manually in the axial direction via an actuating device
on the machine.
The workpieces to be clamped must have a sufficient strength and must be
at most slightly compressible and have an imbalance. Other materials are
only permissible in consultation with RÖHM. The maximum actuating force
and maximum speed must be maintained (see ).
The required clamping force must be determined according to the length
and weight of the workpiece for the use of power-operated clamping
devices (see ).
The permissible usage and environmental conditions must be observed
(see ).
The collet chuckCAPTIS-M is intended for commercial use only.
