Troubleshooting
Fault
Insufficient clamping
force build-up.
Release stroke insuffi-
cient, collet chuck does
not open.
Insufficient clamping
force.
Dimensional deviations
on the workpiece.
Eccentric dimensional
deviations on the work-
piece.
Irregular shape on work-
piece.
Marks / dents on the
clamping surface.

Possible cause
A different grease to the
prescribed Röhm grease
F80 is used.
Component broken.
Dirt in the area of the
collet.
Workpiece is under-
sized.
Dirty clamping taper.
Concentricity fault of
the clamping unit.
Elastic deformation of
starting material with
defects of form; after
machining, the work-
piece returns to its ori-
ginal form.
Incorrect collet type.
Excessive dimensional
difference between the
workpiece diameter and
the clamping hole.
Punctiform or linear
workpiece clamping.
Measure
Dismantle, clean and re-
grease the collet chuck.
Replace component.
Remove collet, com-
pletely unclamp collet
chuck and clean the
coupling area.
Insert suitable collet for
the workpiece.
Remove collet and clean
clamping taper.
Check concentricity on
the clamping taper and
correct if necessary.
Use starting material
with as few defects of
form as possible. Use
collet with some sharp
teeth in the clamping
surface.
Use suitable collet.
Use collet with suitable
clamping hole.
Use collet with smooth
clamping surface.
