Product description

The safety system RE 4000 consists of:
 2 to 6 sensors
 magnetically coded actuating elements
 an evaluation unit
The sensor is fitted to the fixed part of the protective device, the
actuating element to the moving part. When the protective device is
closed, the actuating element is moved against the sensor. When the
switch on distance is reached, the sensor switches. When all sensors
have switched and the other start conditions have been met (external
device monitoring [EDM] evaluated, reset button pressed), the
outputs in the evaluation unit are enabled.

Sensors

The safety sensors RE 300 DA comprise reed contacts in an N/C-N/O
combination. In this way both redundancy and diversity is provided.
When the actuating element reaches the switch on distance, both the
N/C contact (green/yellow) and the N/O contact (blue/red) switch.
1.4.2

Magnetically coded actuating elements

Magnetically coded actuating elements are used to provide better
protection against manipulation. On these actuating elements, two
magnets are arranged such that simple manipulation with a
commercial quality magnet is detected and the sensors do not
switch.
1.4.3

Minimum approach speed and response range

If the actuating element is moved in the direction of the sensor, the
system only changes to the ON state when both reed contacts
(N/C / N/O) have been operated (cf. Fig. 1).
At a distance of ≤ 5 mm between sensor and actuating element, the
sensor switches to ON, i.e. N/C and N/O contacts are operated. The
minimum distance between the sensor and actuating element is
1 mm (cf. Fig. 2).
At ≥ 15 mm the sensor switches to SAFE OFF, both contacts are in
the normal state.
When the protective device is closed, it is necessary to move through
the transition area from ĕ 15 mm to ≤ 5 mm at an approach speed
ĕ 17 mm/s. If this approach speed is not maintained, the outputs are
not switched.
When the protective device is opened (system is in the ON state) it is
necessary to move through the entire transition area from ≤ 5 mm to
ĕ 15 mm. If this area is not passed through entirely (< 15 mm), the
